India has made a commitment to tackle the single-use plastic problem.
From 1st of July, 2022, India has banned the use of single-use plastics across the country. The aim of this ban is to reduce the amount of plastic waste that gets into our oceans and waterways, which can harm wildlife and humans alike.
The ban affects disposable items like straws, plastic straws, plates and cutlery, stirrers, trays are to name a few of the 19 items.
This week, the Delhi Government organized Plastic Vikalp Mela to promote the ban and to display the alternative available to these 19 SUP. The move comes after several other cities around the world have made similar moves in recent years to reduce their consumption of disposable plastics.
While this may seem like an extreme measure, it is actually a very smart move for India's environment—and one that could help lower Delhi's pollution levels even further!
Thanks to #DPCC #delhigovernment #Department of Environment for this showcase, supporting the plastic ban and organizing Plastic Vikalp Mela.
