CHANDIGARH: Heaping praises over the innovative Indian entrepreneurs for developing eco-friendly products, Britain's Prince Charles, who is also a passoinate gardener, today called upon bankers to encourage new viable ventures, especially in the hinterland.
The Prince had yesterday declared the ongoing Commonwealth Games open.
Dressed in a grey suit, he was amazed by the environment friendly products developed by the upcoming entrepreneurs.
"It is incredible to see what is being achieved by these (entrepreneurs) here? which is quite encouraging," Prince Charles said.
He also appreciated the role BYST is playing in helping the disadvantaged Indian youth in developing new and innovative business ventures particularly in rural areas.
Underlining the need for participation of more domestic banks and mentors in encouraging the youth to come up with new ventures the Prince said: "We now need to scale up the operations (business ventures) and we could encourage more banks and mentors in promoting the same."
BYST is inspired from Prince Charles's Trust Youth Business in UK and was founded in 1992.
Along Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil, Prince Charles, who arrived at the Governor's house at around 1315 hrs from New Delhi, spent nearly 20 minutes at the exhibition centre.
Two MBA students from Delhi Vaibhav Jaiswal and Amardeep Bardhan, who had made biodegradable household items using Areca nut leaf, were awarded by the Prince.
An elated Vaibhav said: "He (Prince) liked our idea for making biodegradable plates and asked us to keep up the good work."
The Prince also liked Pune's Amin Almel fuel efficient nitrogen tyre inflators, Chennai's R Vaidyanathan water saving products and Faridabad's Hitendar Punyane Air conditioners which cut down emission level.
Earlier, in his address Patil said that both the centre and states are working together to promote usage of non-conventional sources of energy.
Patil added that it is the need of the hour to jointly make efforts to save the planet.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal urged the Prince to extend the activities of his Trust Youth Business model in Punjab and extended an open invitation to the BYST to set up the trust's offices in the state.
