The customer reheating their delivery in the original container is the highest-risk scenario.
BPA and phthalates are endocrine disruptors — they interfere with hormone systems and have been linked to developmental issues, reproductive health problems, and increased cancer risk in long-term exposure studies. The WHO has flagged microplastics as a public health concern requiring urgent research.
For a food business, serving food in packaging that leaches chemicals into the meal is a food safety issue. It sits alongside hygiene, temperature management, and ingredient sourcing as a factor that affects what the customer actually consumes.
